How did this grant contribute to the realization of your project in regard to artistic exchange, local cultural development and/or the promotion of cultural diversity?

We hope to be able to bring 72 Hour Urban Action to Marseille as part of Marseille Provence 2013 European Capitale of Culture. The project requires setting up a local network of partners to assist with production and architectural research, a preliminary workshop and all other local aspects of the project. We need to find contacts at the local municipality and fiscal partners to help with fund raising. Beyond finding these important partners, I have been able to learn a lot about the context in Marseille through meetings and introduction to the independent artistic community of the city. I hope to be able to form a steering committee for the Marseille edition of 2013 to include these contacts in the adaptation process of the project. Some people I have met were from La Cité des Arts de la Rue, Lieu Public, Friche la Belle de Mai and the team from Marseille Provence 2013.

How does exchange, networking and international contacts contribute to the development of your artistic and cultural project?

They are the way we spread the word, expand dialogues, form new experiences and educate ourselves on like-minded projects and individuals. By networking we also manage to export our project around the world. It is pivotal that we are able to travel and meet old and new contacts.

Can you elaborate on the learning and knowledge you have gained and shared throughout this experience?

Mobility is a huge part of our project and necessary for the evoluton of our practice. Social and community architecture and urban practice rely on the learning and knowledge exchange that are only possible in psychical exploration and face to face workshops. The relationship between the local and the global is also a huge issue for the practice that can only be articulated through mobility of practioners.
