How did this grant contribute to the realization of your project in regard to artistic exchange, local cultural development and/or the promotion of cultural diversity?
This trip consisted of joining the group I Sassofonisti del Mediterreaneo and present a project at the Saxophone World Congress and Festival. This congress provided the best possible setting to make new contacts and strengthen old ones since its aim is to share latest research and projects regarding the saxophone As a student, the most important contacts made included high-calibre saxophonists and tutors with whom I intend to plan future lessons. The mobility Project included two important periods – the preparation period and the actual performance. The former took place in Trentino, Italy from Monday 6th July till Friday 10th July. Following, the whole group traveled to Strasbourg to perform on Saturday 11th July. The duration of stay was sufficient for the required rehearsals and to make the best use of the congress.
How does exchange, networking and international contacts contribute to the development of your artistic and cultural project?
Through this trip, friendships were created with members of the ensemble. I got acquainted with a group named CIS (Campus Internazionale di Sassofono) which frequently organizes international workshops and masterclasses related to the saxophone. Moreover, it would be a great opportunity if I attend such activities. The congress also helped in meeting other first-rate musicians who presented other projects. I intend to keep in contact with such musicians with a possibility of attending lessons or masterclasses with them in the near future.
Can you elaborate on the learning and knowledge you have gained and shared throughout this experience?
Yes, mobility has had a major impact on my artistic proficiency and skills. With particular reference to the current mobility project, it has had the following effect: New Techniques – the project help improved personal technique especially with regards to ensemble playing. Intercultural competences – since there were members coming from different countries there was an exchange of different traditions and cultures mainly those related to music, food and language.
