What was the funding used for ?

The Tamteen fund by RCF was used for renovating one of the oldest house in the North of Jordan, the Joma'a Al-Attar house. Joma'a Al-Attar was the first hotel in Irbid and afterwards it was used as a chamber of commerce because of its location and value. Joma'a Al-Attar has been closed since the 1960s after Irbid municipality hold it and closed it for no reason. MedeArts did an advocacy to re-open it and we have been able to bring Joma'a Alattar house back to life with the help of Roberto Cimetta Fund. We used the fund mainly to prepare all the furniture and stands that will be used for galleries and exhibitions. We will target local artists in Irbid and North Jordan to join us in this project and to take part in the futur events.

How did this funding contribution provide sustainability to your organisation and improve the quality of the implementation of your work ?

The fund helped us in creating the first movable gallery in Jordan, this gallery will take place in Joma'a Al-Attar house as a permanent location and it will moove during the year around different locations to help the local artists to hold their personal and public exhibitions. One of the key points about Joma'a Al-Attar house is that we can't open it on daily basis because of the regulations of heritage houses in Jordan, that is why we focused on the sustainability plan to have this movable equipment so we can always move them if we want to do another gallery in an another place but with being sure of having them back to Joma'a Alattar' house.
