How did this grant contribute to the realization of your project in regard to artistic exchange, local cultural development and/or the promotion of cultural diversity?
Lately I have been exploring the field of video-art and I am very interested in gaining experience in it. For this, I have contacted the Syrian director Ousama Mohamed, residing now at the Cité International des arts de Paris and Hala Al Abdallah who are willing to provide me with some expertise and information. My project will take the form of a serie of short videos, every one with its own specificity, but together it will reflect one idea. It will be presented separately but in the same space. I contacted Europea Gallery who had already suggested to present my work but since I had no financial support to travel at that time, the project was postponed. During my stay in Paris, I thus exhibited my work at the gallery in addition to the main purpose of my trip which is to meet Ossama Mohamed and Hala Al Abdallah to work on my video material. I also met with the director Hala Mohamed and the editor Dany Abu Loh. I also met the team of the Franco-Palestinian cultural centre where I showed my film ‘ Light Horizon’ that I directed in 2012 in the frame of the festival of Palestine Inside/Outside.
How does exchange, networking and international contacts contribute to the development of your artistic and cultural project?
I live under the Israeli occupation in Golan and most of the artists that I met have reservation towards travelling to Israel or collaborating with it. Therefore the only way to connect and to tavel outside my region to other countries, mainly European, is to meet and collaborate with them. The mobility within this project is essentiel since my video is based on a collaboration with directors living in a another country.
