What was the funding used for ?

The funding was used to support structuring of the second edition of the project « Laboratory of Arts». This initiative aims to support networking and solidarity between artists and cultural operators from Syria as well as creative projects of Syrian artists in Syria or in the places they are currently working in. The initiative also strengthens artistic expression and finds opportunities for independent artists to realise their projects in the places they are currently working in, in Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, Egypt or Turkey.

How did this funding contribution provide sustainability to your organisation and improve the quality of the implementation of your work ?

By providing support to the coordinator of this project but also to 2 researchers to produce a study on the role of arts in periods of crisis, this fund contributed sustaining the missions of Ettijahat which comprise stimulation of the growth of independent culture in Syria and providing the basic tools and structures (including studies and research) required to design and build cultural projects that are in-line with regional and national developments in the fields of art and culture.
