How did this grant contribute to the realization of your project in regard to artistic exchange, local cultural development and/or the promotion of cultural diversity?
The scholarship at Folkwang University of Art offered me the Bachelor course "Musical" which contains classes in the fields of acting, dance and voice. This course gave me the opportunity to participate in these classes and by this I can extend my education which is limited to the field of acting in Ramallah. The designed course also allowed me to get involved in different strains that is essentially to my career as a potential artist in this time where there is no more separation between art forms. I got the opportunity to be integrated in the musical classes such as e. g. vocal technique, choir singing, song interpretation, ballet, jazz dance, tap dance, choreography, body awareness, band projects, basic training after Michael Tschechow, etc. I consider this with no doubt an important and unique opportunity for me as Palestinian student who has no access to the source of art in the world due to the political conditions and the isolation we live in Palestine.
Can you elaborate on the learning and knowledge you have gained and shared throughout this experience?
I am one of the pioneers who were the first group to graduate from the Drama Academy in the Bachelor program, and this opportunity could make a great impact on the future of art education in Palestine, and would give me the opportunity to support and enrich the development of the academy in the very near future. My experience during the exchange program between the Drama Academy and Folkwang University has a great impact on my academic and professional development and this course will give me another dimension to study and work within a multicultural environment which will enrich my skills and experiences as an artist.
