How did this grant contribute to the realization of your project in regard to artistic exchange, local cultural development and/or the promotion of cultural diversity?
We consider this residence as an achievement for our professional evolution. The time we have been living there has helped us to find new ways of thinking, expressing and conceptualizing our projects. Our project has been included in the Resonance of Lyon Biennial of Contemporary Art (the 11th edition), which meant our confirmation and recognition as well, and has offered us the occasion of being in contact with different perceptions and ideas of those involved in this great cultural event. This experience has definitely been a step forward in getting into contact with professional people in the field. We could establish plenty of professional contacts that will help us in our future projects. We made contacts with art galleries and artists being focused on the same art field and we even began discussions related to new projects in cooperation with some of these people. Last but not least, we could meet some of the Romanian community living in Lyon, meeting that will support us in a large social art project which began 6 months ago. This project will gain a new dimension thanks to this residence.
How does exchange, networking and international contacts contribute to the development of your artistic and cultural project?
Exchange and travel have always been important for artists all over the world because you cannot improve yourself as an artist if you watch only your artworks and your ideas. The more you travel the more you achieve. All our projects have been enriched with every new experience we met. Every place we visited and got in contact with left a trace in our way of thinking. Most of our projects are focused around different identities, that's why we need to travel and meet different people and different points of view.
