How did this grant contribute to the realization of your project in regard to artistic exchange, local cultural development and/or the promotion of cultural diversity?
The focus of the project has been the relationship with the Ħamrun community. The central point of the project was the relationship with the children and the local scout community. The final work, after a sensitive observation of the dynamics of the relations between the inhabitants of the district, and our presence and activity, takes the form of a visual laboratory and a theatrical show set up inside an empty swimming pool located in the scout camp where we have lived throughout our stay in Malta. We can say that of course this experience has been for us a great goal, outlined on different horizons, but it certainly flows into the very heart of our artistic work.
How does exchange, networking and international contacts contribute to the development of your artistic and cultural project?
Exchange, contacts, dialogue, but alfo conflicts, are at the base of our cultural process. It is a fundamental condition without which we could not go deep into the work.
Can you elaborate on the learning and knowledge you have gained and shared throughout this experience?
Through this experience I became stronger as an artist and as a person. It was not always easy to meet and satisfy all the difficulties involved in an artistic residence. Specifically, the difficulties were related to our effective and active presence in a place and in a situation where people are not normally used to the artistic dimension, to diversity , and cultural exchange.
Precisely for this reason my desire to make art has become much stronger.
